The Colors of Nature summer academy will explore the biology, physics, and nanotechnology of the colors of nature through the lens of art. Participants will draw, paint, create models, observe birds and insects, explore UV light, play with pigments, and use scientific tools such as microscopes. They will learn about scale in art and science, and learn how color is produced in objects such as feathers and butterfly wings. The final day of the academy will include a public exhibit of student work.
Who can attend?
Girls entering 5th, 6th, or 7th grades in the fall of 2014.
What are the dates?
The 2014 Tucson, AZ summer academy takes place from June 9-20th, 2014 (with weekend off).
What is the cost?
There is no cost to attend the academy.
Is lodging available?
No. This is a day program only. Activities take place between 9AM-4PM.
